How Worldbuilding Can Help You Brainstorm

Hey there, fellow nerds! Today's post is on how worldbuilding seriously helped me with my writing--and how it can help you, as well.

For those of you who don't know, worldbuilding is, well, the art of building a world. . . usually in the form of words, not literally with bricks, stone, wood, etc. :D As writers, we typically have to experiment with it a bit, whether we realize it or not. Every good story has a good world to go along with it, in my opinion, but it doesn't really have to be stressful to deal with.

Writing the Book You Want to Read

Hello, fellow nerds!

I know it's been a little while since I've posted on here, but today I was inspired to type up a post on writing the book that you want to read. Just hear me out, though: I know "write the book you want to read" may seem like another cliche writing tip, and in a way it sort of is! But I just really wanted to break it down a bit and tell you guys what I get out of it. I've seen that tip scattered about the Internet, and although it does seem like it would be pretty helpful, it doesn't exactly offer you much of an explanation. I mean, what any writer wouldn't give to be able to write the book they truly wanted to read. . .

Another D&D Session

 Hey there, fellow nerds! Today we got maybe another five inches of snow--which is totally crazy. I don't think I've ever seen such big snowflakes before. There really isn't a whole lot to do around here, so it sure is a good thing D&D exists. Hehehe. Yesterday we had to risk driving to the store because my parents ran out of coffee, and (desperate for a bit of cash) I sold Noah my Rankle, Master of Pranks card for 5 bucks. That bought me a bag of Chex mix and a drink. Gotta do what you gotta do.

D&D Shenanigans

 Hey there, fellow nerds! I'm not sure about you guys, but we've gotten plenty of snow and ice, so it's pretty cold around here. Too cold to go outside, that's for sure. I'm not a fan of wintery weather, but since there's not anything better to do, my older brother Noah and I decided to play some Dungeons and Dragons.

In my opinion, Dungeons and Dragons (affectionately known as D&D, cause hey, it's a real mouthful) should be the official game of nerds. Or maybe it already is. :D

Book Review: Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell

 Hello everyone! Today I've done a lot of reading. . . and I mean, a LOT of reading. I finally finished Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (I only had about 40 pages left--don't worry, I didn't read all 733 fine print pages in one day like a psychopath) this morning, read The Fault in Our Stars (I'll probably review that one soon), and read the last 80 or so pages of this book I started awhile back called Tuck Everlasting. I've started so many books, so it's nice to be able to go back and finish them when I have the time.
